(WNY News Now) – A Niagara County investigation into missing funds from a local Cub Scout pack has resulted in a grand larceny charge against its former leader, authorities say.
CAMBRIA, N.Y. — A 42-year-old Town of Cambria woman has been arrested after investigators determined she allegedly used more than $9,000 in Cub Scout pack funds for personal benefit while serving as the group’s Cubmaster.
The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office announced Oct. 15 that its Criminal Investigation Bureau had completed an investigation into a report involving Scouting America Cub Scout Pack #824.
According to the sheriff’s office, multiple parents of children in the pack came forward with concerns about money collected that was not documented or paid out as expected.
Investigators identified the woman as Carol A. Thurnherr, 42, of Cambria. Authorities allege she used the organization’s funds for personal purposes during her time as Cubmaster.

The charge is an accusation, and Thurnherr is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
