(WNY News Now) – A 41-year-old Virginia man faces multiple charges following a traffic stop on Route 20 in the Town of Portland shortly after midnight Wednesday, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

PORTLAND, N.Y. — Jose Miguel Molina Echavarria, 41, of Norfolk, Virginia, was charged following a traffic stop conducted by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 12:24 a.m. on Oct. 21.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle on Route 20 in the Town of Portland. Following an investigation, Molina Echavarria was charged with driving while intoxicated, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, moving from a lane unsafely, operating an unlicensed vehicle operator, and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Molina Echavarria is scheduled to answer to the charges in Portland Town Court.

The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
