JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man is charged in connection with a shooting that occurred on Franklin Street Saturday morning, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Desimon J. Elston, 34, allegedly fired two shots from a pistol towards a second person. Police said they originally responded to a report of a fight in the area of 45 Franklin St.
Elston reportedly ran from the scene, but was located at 55 Franklin St. and arrested.
Elston is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon after police said they recovered a .45-cal pistol within the residence of 55 Franklin St.
Additional charges are expected, and the investigation is ongoing. Elston is currently in Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment.
No injuries were reported.
“The fact that we are now routinely recovering loaded weapons is deeply concerning with the understanding that these guns are not being possessed by legal gun owners. These are guns that are possessed illegal and are being used during crimes,” JPD Captain Robert Samuelson told WNYNewsNow.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit assisted in the investigation.
Police ask anyone who may have information on any crime to call JPD at 483-TIPS(8477) or via the Tips 411 App. All tips are kept confidential.
