In Face Of Trump Offer, Reed Calls On Democrats To Return To The Negotiating Table

WASHINGTON – Following President Donald Trump’s offer to compromise with Democrats to end the partial government shut down and fund a border wall, Congressman Tom Reed has asked Democrats to sit with Trump and work out a solution.

“President Trump offered a reasonable and fair compromise. He showed he cares for struggling government employees impacted by the shutdown, our fellow American citizens threatened by a weak border as well as our country’s Dreamers who have been unfairly caught up in our nation’s immigration problems,” Reed said.

“It is my hope the Democrat party leadership will show a willingness to compromise and govern for the American people instead of being beholden by the extremists in their party” he added.
