OLEAN – New York State Police have charged an Olean man with aggravated DWI and said he recorded a BAC of twice the legal limit.

On Sunday, Troopers arrested Aaron R. Tierson, 36, for aggravated driving while intoxicated – BAC of more than 0.18%, aggravated driving while intoxicated, prior conviction in the previous 10 Years, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

During a traffic stop on Buffalo Street in Olean, Tierson was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication, Troopers said. He allegedly failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. He was arrested and transported to the Olean barracks, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.18% BAC.

Tierson was arraigned in Olean City Court where he was released on his own recognizance. He is due to reappear in that court later this month.
