City Man Charged After Allegedly Assaulting Woman

JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man was arrested following a domestic violence incident early Friday morning at 611 Washington St. Apt. 3, according to the Jamestown Police Department.

Michael A. Weathers, 50, allegedly assaulted a female victim following a verbal argument. In addition, Weathers allegedly threatened the victim with a knife.

When officers arrived to the scene, they reportedly observed blood all over the common hallway of the apartment. A distinct odor of bleach was also reportedly detected.


Officers reportedly discovered an uninjured Weathers hiding in an apartment closet. The victim reportedly escaped, and was located several hours later.

A search warrant was obtained for the apartment, and officers reportedly recovered a weapon and other evidence.

Officers, additionally, discovered that Weathers has an order of protection to refrain from assaulting the female victim and was previously convicted of domestic-related offenses, according to JPD.



Weathers was taken to Jamestown City Jail to await arraignment. Weathers is charged with third-degree assault, aggravated criminal contempt, aggravated family offense, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing.
