Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office To Hold Boater Safety Courses

CHAUTAUQUA LAKE – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is set to hold two more boater safety courses this spring.

The course is required for anyone born after May 1, 1996 to operate a vessel in New York State.

The first course is Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Lawson Center at 73 Lakeside Dr. in Bemus Point from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The second is Saturday, June 1, 2019 also at the Lawson Center from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.


Instructors said lunch will be provided during both classes. The courses are free to anyone ages 10 to 17. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a released form signed by a parent or guardian.

Those 18 and up will be required to pay a $10 fee from New York State.
