DUNKIRK – Officials in Dunkirk unveiled improvements to the city’s harbor and pier Monday.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas and Assemblyman Andy Goodell spoke at a ceremony before the official ribbon cutting.

The project improves pedestrians’ access to Lake Erie and creates better connections to the city’s waterfront trails.

There is also increased seating, green space, better fishing, other water recreation opportunities, new signage and lighting.

“This project will draw more city residents and visitors to our newly enhanced pier and gives our fishermen an exciting place to host fishing tournaments,” Mayor Rosas told WIVB News 4.

The project was supported by funding from the Buffalo Billion’s Smart Growth Community Fund.
