JAMESTOWN – More clouds than sun with a spotty shower chance through the afternoon today. A system passing close to the region will bring an influx of moisture to Western New York over the weekend.
There could be a couple peaks of sun this afternoon but the majority of the day will likely be an overcast sky. There will also be the potential for a couple hit or miss showers before sunset. Highs 47 to 56 with a light wind.
The Jamestown High School Red Raiders varsity football team plays at home tonight against Frontier for the first playoff game of the season. There could be a spotty shower early as the game starts, otherwise mostly cloudy with temps in the upper 40’s.
Mostly cloudy early tonight with some partial cloud breaks late Morning lows 38 to 46 with a light and variable wind.
The majority of Saturday will be mainly useable with some partial sunshine. There is the possibility of a shower or two through the day. Highs in the lower to mid 50’s.
A deep area of Low pressure will pass to the northwest of the region in the upper Great Lakes. We’ll be on the warmer side of the system, equating out to widespread rain Saturday night through Sunday. Some of the rain could be moderate to heavy in intensity at times.
Highs and Sunday will be in the lower 60’s with a pretty gusty breeze to near 45 MPH at times. The issuance of a Wind Advisory by the National Weather Service is possible for Sunday, as the potential exists for some wind gusts nearing 50 MPH near the Lake Erie Shoreline.

Halloween: Many questions have been asked about Halloween and at this time, the questions are hard to answer. There is still a lot of uncertainty in regards to the track of a potential storm system and its impacts to Western NY. As we see it, there are two possibilities of how this could play out:
Scenario One: The storm track stays away from the region but allows a trough with colder air to sag into the region. The day would likely be raw and chilly with the potential for a few snowflakes should this idea verify.
Scenario Two: The system takes a track closer the the region, keeping the colder air at bay and allowing mild and most air to influx into the region with scattered to widespread rain showers.
No matter which idea should verify, next Thursday will not a good idea weather-wise. The big debate lies with the temperatures and which type of precipitation of fall. Nothing is written is stone and the forecast can, and likely will, change as we get closer to Halloween.
