JAMESTOWN – A Winter Weather Advisory for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties will go into effect Saturday at 8 p.m., bringing bands of lake effect snow to the area.
The National Weather Service in Buffalo says the snow will set up off Lake Erie Saturday night and mainly target the Southern Tier.
Total snowfall could range between 3 to 6 inches, with the highest totals along the higher terrain.
“Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands,” weather officials said. “If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.”
The advisory runs through Sunday at 2 p.m.
