National Weather Service Issues Snow Squall Warning For Area

JAMESTOWN – The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Snow Squall Warning for southwestern Cattaraugus County and southern Chautauqua County until 9:30 a.m.

Weather officials say at 8:33 a.m. a dangerous snow squall was located near Mayville, or 16 miles northwest of Jamestown, moving east at 35 mph.

Heavy snow, blowing snow and wind gusts greater than 30 mph producing brief, near zero visibility are expected.











Locations impacted include Jamestown, Lakewood, Falconer, Mayville, Chautauqua Institution, Randolph and Frewsburg.

Officials say slow down as rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are expected with this dangerous snow squall. Sudden whiteout conditions are expected.
