CHAUTAUQUA – Congressman Tom Reed says the Chautauqua Opera Company will receive a $15,000 Art Works grant to help fund its 2020 opera festival.

The opera company’s season will focus on the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, the Women’s Suffrage Centennial, with three different operas: “Tosca,” “Thumbprint” and “The Mother of Us All.”

Reed says it is important to encourage people to use their creative talents to express themselves, tell stories and enrich the lives of others.

“This grant funding will allow the Chautauqua Opera Company to share stories and ideas that center around women’s rights and the right to vote – what is more enriching than that?,” said Reed.

Each year, the Institution opens for a 9-week summer program that includes lectures, theater, dance and other events. The Institution has also expanded its programming to include a winter festival and other off-season events.
