Jamestown Manufacturer To Layoff 37 Employees

JAMESTOWN – A City of Jamestown factory is scheduled to layoff nearly half of its workforce later this year.

Jamestown Metal Products, at 178 Blackstone Ave, filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, also known as a WARN notice, last week.

The company says 37 of the 77 employees will be laid off.

Jamestown Metal Products is a division of Institutional Casework. They manufacture painted steel, stainless steel and wood fixtures, fume hoods and work surfaces.

The company says “economic” conditions contributed to the layoff. The company was founded in 1943.
