Man Arrested After Allegedly Hitting, Choking Woman During Dispute

JAMESTOWN – A City of Jamestown man was arrested late Tuesday night for allegedly hitting and choking a woman during a domestic dispute on Newland Avenue.

Officers alleged that Robert Barr, 47, hit the woman several times and choked her until she lost consciousness. Police additionally say the woman sustained facial injuries.

When police attempted to take Barr into custody, he allegedly began to fight with them.





Following a brief struggle, Barr was arrested and taken to Jamestown City Jail pending arraignment.

Barr is charged with second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, third-degree criminal mischief, aggravated family offense and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
