LITTLE VALLEY – The Cattaraugus County Health Department was notified of its 30th confirmed case of COVID-19 on Monday.
Officials say the case involves a female healthcare worker who resides in the northeastern part of the county.
“She developed what she thought was a sinus infection and loss of taste and smell and was tested for COVID-19 on April 17,” said health officials. “The results of her test on April 18 indicated that she was positive for COVID-19.”
The healthcare worker is now resting at home and under quarantine with her family.
“She and her family will be assessed for any medical support that we can provide and we will monitor their symptoms closely,” furthered officials. “The department has begun a thorough contact tracing investigation for those individuals that they have been in contact with and the places that they have visited.”
So far, 12 people have recovered from the virus and 18 cases remain active in Cattaraugus County.
