JAMESTOWN – A City of Jamestown factory is slated to close later this year.
Jamestown Metal Products, 178 Blackstone Avenue, in a statement to WNYNewsNow says they notified employees Wednesday they will be closing the plant on September 4.
The statement cites “unprofitability of the division” as a reason for the closure.
“HR Director Joseph Crews will be working with all available agencies to assist employees affected,” said the statement.
Earlier this year the company announced nearly half of its workforce would be laid off.
Jamestown Metal Products is a division of Institutional Casework. They manufacture painted steel, stainless steel and wood fixtures, fume hoods and work surfaces.
