OLEAN – An Ashville woman is charged following an investigation into a complaint of suspected welfare fraud from the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office says Vanessa B. Kelley-Bednarek, 66, received fraudulently $1,406 in food stamps by allegedly concealing and failing to report income.

Kelley-Bednarek was arrested and released on an appearance ticket for charges of grand larceny and welfare fraud, both in the fourth degree.

Deputies say she is due in the City of Olena Court on July 28.
