RUSSELL — The passing of a Kennedy man was not noted by a public funeral service because of COVID-19 restrictions, but that isn’t stopping the family of Dennis Ayers from honoring his memory.

Ayers, 72, of South Route 62, Kennedy, died April 24. So to honor the man, his life and his memory, his family is holding the Memorial Golf Scramble Tournament For Dennis Ayers.

The scramble is slated for a 9 a.m. tee time, Saturday, Sept. 5 at Cable Hollow Golf Course, 405 Norberg Road. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available, with breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m.

The family hopes people will share their memories of Ayers and honor his memory with recollections of better days spent with him.

The cost of the event is $65, or $15 for just dinner, which is a chicken barbecue. There will be three divisions in the event: men, woman and mixed couples.

To RSVP or for more information contact Terry Ayers at 640-3538 or Cable Hollow Golf Course at 814-757-4765.

Ayers was a U.S. Air Force veteran, self-employed contractor and coached youth baseball in Falconer for 45 years.
