FALCONER — A Lakewood area woman is giving back in a small gesture with a large sense of appreciation.

Gretchen Beckstrom wanted to ley local law enforcement people know they are appreciated and find something to do with all her spare time.

So, Beckstrom made special collars for local K-9 officers and key chains for their human counterparts.

“Part of it was being at home with a lot of spare time on my hands this summer and spring, so I decided to do something to give back to the police and all law enforcement,” Beckwith told WNYNewsNow during a public recognition in Falconer.

She made dog collars with a K-9 Hero tag. Then she made key chains that also carry the hero label.

Her son is a federal law officer and she worries about him all the time she said, fostering her appreciation for law enforcement.

“If you don’t appreciate them, there’s probably a reason,” she said. “It means a lot to me to be able to give back in even a small way to the people who give so much.”
