ELLICOTT – Several local charitable organizations are asking for the community’s help in raising funds for a Falconer area family whose home was destroyed by fire on New Year’s Day.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Team is looking into what caused the blaze at 2592 Tompkins Rd.

In addition to donations, the American Red Ross is immediately assisting the family.
The Fluvanna, Falconer, Gerry, Kennedy, Sinclairville, Ashville, Dewittville and Ellery Center Fire Departments were among those who responded to a fully engulfed house fire on Tompkins Road just after 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
All occupants made it out of the house before crews arrived and no injuries were reported.
Travel on area roadways was difficult as freezing rain is forecast throughout the region.

ELLICOTT – Several fire departments are battling a house fire on Tomkins Road in the Town of Ellicott.
According to Chautauqua County Fire Dispatch, the Fluvanna, Falconer, Gerry, Kennedy, Sinclairville, Ashville, Dewittville and Ellery Center Fire Departments are among those responding to a fully engulfed house fire at 2592 Tompkins Rd. just after 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
