LITTLE VALLEY – The 80th COVID-19 related death and 42 additional cases of the virus were reported over the weekend in Cattaraugus County.

The Health Department says the death involves an 87-year-old man who despite aggressive medical treatment died from respiratory failure.

Of the new cases, 25 were logged on Saturday and 17 on Sunday.

There are now 333 cases active with 23 hospitalizations.

The seven-day average infection increased to 4.7 percent.

To date: 3,944 cases have been recorded since the start of the pandemic, with 3,531 people recovering.
