JAMESTOWN – New York has launched a new initiative to brings arts and entertainment back to the state.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the NY PopsUp initiative on Monday.

He says the first of its kind initiative will accelerate the restoration of culture, arts, creative energy.

Starting on February 20, more than 300 events will pop up across the state over the next 100 days.

“We’re trying to thread the needle. We want the performances, but we don’t want mass gatherings,” Cuomo said. “It’s exciting, it’s different, it’s creative.”

The Governor says the ‘pop-up’ style events aim to limit crowd gatherings, giving some the opportunity to attend in person and shown online, as well.

No details were given about possible events in Western New York.
