ASHVILLE – Investigators are interviewing those living in a Chautauqua Lake neighborhood that was rocked by massive fire Thursday, which leveled a home and damaged several others.

Captain Rick Telford with Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Team tells WNY News Now his detectives will follow up with homeowners and nearby residents on Friday.

Telford says since only ash is left of the home where fire originated from, it will be extremely difficult for crews to pinpoint the exact origin of the blaze.

His team is speaking with the homeowners, who live out of the area, to see if they had left any equipment on or if recent electrical work was done.

In addition to speaking with neighbors, Telford says investigators will also review area security footage that could shed light on where specifically in the structure the blaze originated.

Several area fire crews battled the blaze, which in total destroyed two homes and damaged several others on Keller Road near the Ashville Bay Marina.
