CELORON – Several fire departments battled an apartment fire in the Village of Celoron on Saturday evening.
The Celoron, Lakewood, Busti, Kiantone, Falconer and Jamestown Fire Departments were dispatched to Marine Park Drive just before 5 p.m.
Chief Jordan Bailey with the Celoron Fire Department told WNY News Now’s Lee Cain the fire was contained to a rear porch of the residence.
“We were called for smoke coming from a porch at the Ellicott Shores Apartments,” said Bailey. “Upon my arrival we had heavy smoke coming from the office area and back porch where an occupant lived.”
Firefighters made quick work of the blaze with no injuries reported.
The Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team says a discarded cigarette started the fire.
