BUFFALO – A 30-year-old Jamestown man accused of sex trafficking young girls has been formally indicted in the case.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Anthony Burris was indicted by a federal grand jury Friday on charges of sex trafficking and enticing travel to engage in sexual activity. The man was previously arrested last week.
It is alleged Burris lured young girls with drugs in exchange for prostitution.
Burris also, prosecutors say, assaulted woman when they would not meet his demands.
An undercover agent set up a “car date” with one of his victims last month. After identifying the man, investigators searched his vehicle finding a bag full of condoms, lubricants, suspected controlled substances including a mixture of heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana, three cellphones, and $2,216 in cash.
The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, a maximum of life and a $250,000 fine.
Burris’ arrest is a result of an investigation by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Amherst Police Department and the Millcreek, PA, Police Department.
