JAMESTOWN – The average price for a gallon of gas has increased in the Jamestown area.

According to GasBuddy.com’s daily survey, the average price is $2.89 per gallon as we start a new week.

Nearly one month ago, the price for a gallon of petrol was $2.86 in town.

Both the local and state average is up three cents.

Statewide, the price for a gallon of gas is $2.92. Nationally, its $2.89.

AAA says last week’s demand estimate is one of the highest since March last year when social distancing restrictions were established that dramatically reduced gas demand.

The auto group says now, the demand for fuel is in line with the typical spring driving season rates seen pre-pandemic.

They say continued growth in total domestic supply will likely help to keep pump prices from spiking dramatically.
