LAKEWOOD – A Jamestown woman is accused of leaving her dog in a hot car on Wednesday afternoon.

Lakewood-Busti Police responded to a call from the Lakewood TJ Maxx parking lot. Officers report the dog was left in a vehicle in the heat for over 30 minutes.

They attempted to find the owner of the small white dog in all the nearby stores before removing the K-9 from the vehicle and giving it water.

Shortly after, 72-year-old Joan Holmes returned to her vehicle and was charged with Confinement of Companion Animal in Vehicle: Extreme Temperatures.

The dog was returned to Holmes with a water dish.

She is set to appear in the Town of Busti Court.
