WESTFEILD – The search for a man accused of breaking into a hunting cabin in the Town of Westfield is continuing Thursday.

Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone says deputies returned to the area of Route 394 and Martin Wright Road after they received a tip he was spotted in the area. He has not been identified to the media yet.

On Thursday, the suspect is accused of burglarizing a hunting camp on Rt. 394 around 2 p.m.

The man fled from the location just prior to deputies’ arrival. A search was conducted of a very large vast wooded area, but investigators said the subject was not found.

Investigators did locate a men’s coat that contained a males Pennsylvania Driver’s License. A short time later his vehicle was found stuck on a well road near the house in question. That car was registered to the same man on the driver license found.

Deputies do not believe the subject is a threat to the public, but do think he could be in search of a vehicle to steal while trying to leave the area. They are encouraging the public to lock their cars and homes.
