DUNKIRK – Lawmakers in Chautauqua County have allocated $20,000 to help fight lake weeds in the Dunkirk City Harbor.
The municipality’s Public Works Director petitioned for the funding during this week’s Legislature meeting.
The funding comes from bed tax money and will help pay for a weed harvester that will combat invasive weed growth on the waterfront.
The reason this is important, officials say, is because of an upcoming fishing tournament.
In 2022 the city his hosting the National Walleye Invitational Fishing Tournament.
