ERIE (Erie News Now) – National Fuel is expecting natural gas costs to decrease for customers next winter.

The company is projecting a decrease in overall gas supply charges of approximately $111.87 per year. If approved, the monthly bill for a typical residential customer starting in August 2022 would decrease from $86.35 to $77.03 per month, which is a 10.8 percent drop.

The reason for the decrease is costs associated with the purchase and transmission of natural gas are projected to be lower, according to the company.

National Fuel is required to submit its annual purchased gas cost projection for Aug. 2022 through July 2023 to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) for approval. Pricing will also be adjusted quarterly to reflect current market prices.

The company is required by law to shop for the most reasonably priced gas and must pass along any changes to customers without any mark-up or discount.
