MAYVILLE (Erie News Now) – Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is warning of a telephone scam in which a caller identifies themselves as a Medicare employee and are seeking information from your Medicare card.

The Sheriff warns that you should not entertain any calls of this nature, as it’s a type of phone solicitation and potential fraud/scam.

If you receive one of these calls, hang up and do not entertain the call.

There is no reason to immediately call the authorities upon getting receiving one of these calls, as there is nothing the police can do; however, if you are a victim of such a call and suffered a theft, it is advised to report it to the police.
