ALBANY N.Y. (WENY) – Governor Kathy Hochul has announced an initiative to encourage eligible New Yorkers to sign up for the federal government’s affordable connectivity program.

It is a newly launched program that provides discounts of up to $30 per month toward internet service for low income families.

Hochul’s aim is to make sure that low income families not only receive affordable coverage but that it is easy to access.

In addition to the $30 per month assistance, financially eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet.
