Man Jailed, Facing Charges Following Attempted Gas Theft, Police Chase

CARROLL – A 21-year-old Jamestown man is behind bar and facing charges in connection with an attempted gas theft and subsequent police chase in Chautauqua County this month.

The Town of Carroll Police report Brooklyn King allegedly entered an Amish barn on Ivory Road on January 12 and attempted to steal gas from chainsaws located inside.

King, police say, was caught in the alleged act, fled to his nearby vehicle and took off only before crashing into a truck parked on the property causing damage.


Carroll Police and New York State Troopers gave chase; but called off a pursuit due to safety risks. He faces a slew of charges including burglary and fleeing a police officer.

Officers say the man was arrested later in the month in a separate case. He currently sists in Chautauqua County Jail without bail according to the Sheriff’s Office.
