CHAUTAUQUA – A push to raise money for a 37-year-old Dunkirk man who died in a snowmobile crash in Chautauqua County late Sunday is now underway.

Thomas Allen was riding his sled on a trail in the Town of Chautauqua when the crash occurred.

Chautauqua County Sheriff Deputies, along with several other emergency units, were dispatched to the area of Bloomer Road around 10 p.m.

Allen was pronounced deceased at the scene after medical personnel attempted to save his life.

On Monday, a GoFundMe was created by a family friend to cover his final expenses. According to friends, the Dunkirk native was known as a doting father for his two kids.

In under 24 hours, the fundraiser brought-in almost $19,000 of it’s $25,000 goal. The organizer says she hopes the money can help Allen’s family grieve their loss without the added stress of financial worry.

At this time, investigators are still looking into what caused the accident.
