JAMESTOWN – To say thank you to veteran’s and active military, the Chautauqua County Humane Society is hosting a special adoption pawp-up event this weekend.

Military members, veterans and their families are invited to the Running’s store on Fairmount Avenue in West Ellicott Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the event.

Participants are asked to bring their Military I.D., and adoption fees will be waved on dogs over six-months-old and cats over one-year-old. The standard adoption process still applies.

“We are excited to honor our local veterans and active servicemembers in this way,” said Senior Programs Director Brian Papalia. “There is no better thank you than the love and companionship a pet can provide. We are also incredibly grateful to have partners like Happy Hounds Hotel and Day Spa, Runnings, and Kinetic by Windstream partnering with us to make this event possible.”

Officials with the humane society go on to say that while the program is highlighted this month, it is available year-round.
