ALBANY – A local New York State lawmaker, who has pushed for changes to bail reform, has himself become a victim of crime.

Assemblyman Andy Goodell had his 2009 BMW stolen from a secured parking lot at the State Legislature office building earlier this week, later being totaled in a car accident just a few blocks away.

Assemblyman Goodell says that the alleged thief took the vehicle on a “joyride” and crashed into another vehicle, totaling it.

As of reporting, the alleged thief is still at large.

State Police have since released surveillance photos of the person suspected of stealing the Assemblyman’s car.

Troopers are asking anyone who has information on the identity of the suspect or their whereabouts to call them at (518) 474-5330.
