WESTFIELD – A local fishing tournament is returning to Chautauqua County’s Lake Erie shoreline this summer.

The Western New York Walleye Classic, which made its debut in 2021, is once again being held in the Town of Westfield next month.

During the event, teams from all over the country compete to capture the largest walleye possible in Lake Erie, with the winning boat receiving a cash prize.

The tournament is set to be a part of the new Barcelona Harbor Outdoor Expo, which welcomes anyone in the community to take advantage of the warmer weather and support local vendors.

Organizers say in its first year, the event attracted participants from as far as Wyoming, and the winning team went home with over ten thousand dollars.

Activities will be hosted by the Frewsburg based company Primitive Patriot Outdoors, from Friday, June 3rd to Sunday, June 5th at the Monroe Marina.

For more information, or to register, you can check out the event’s website at www.primitivepatriotoutdoor.com. Registration for the tournament is open until May 22nd.
