JAMESTOWN – Those in Jamestown came together on Monday morning in honor of Memorial Day.

Hundreds of residents lined up along Lakeview Avenue around 10 o’clock, looking on as the precession made its way from downtown Jamestown to Lakeview Cemetery on the city’s northside.

Dozens of various groups took part, including the city police and fire departments, local Blue Star Mothers and the Jamestown High School Marching Band, who performed a variety of patriotic tunes.

However, the highlight of the parade was the countless number of Jamestown area Veterans who marched, and in some cases, rode along with the parade, honoring comrades who never returned home, paying the ultimate price for our freedom.

At the end of the parade, residents were encouraged to visit soldier circle at Lakeview Cemetery to pay their respects.
