Late Fluvanna Firefighter Honored For Service

FLUVANNA – A late Fluvanna Volunteer Firefighter is being posthumously honored for his service.

New York State Senator George Borrello presented a proclamation on Friday, honoring Brian Swanson who passed away back in April.

Before joining the Fluvanna Volunteer Fire Department’s ranks, Swanson served in the U.S. Navy for over two decades.


While serving within the Fire Department, Swanson, known to his friends as Doc., received the ‘Firefighter of the Year’ accommodation responding to over 3,000 calls.

His wife Barbara and son Keith were on hand to receive a proclamation from Senator Borrello.
