WARREN, Pa. (Erie News Now) – As the war enters its 17th week, a church in Warren has been providing support for the people of Ukraine through a number of initiatives.

From spaghetti dinners, to piecing together first aid kits, Pastor Jeff Ewing and First Lutheran Church of Warren has raised over $22,000 for aid overseas.

Pastor Ewing said St. Joseph’s Parish and its pastor Father Rick Tomasone helped bring a family from Ukraine to Warren, which sparked his church’s relief efforts.

“What ended up happening is during Lent, we raised money to help support them and the community of Ukraine that were in Slovakia at that point,” said Pastor Ewing. “Then, St. Joe’s has done a lot of there things – all the way to the point of bringing that family here to settle them into the Warren area.”
