MAYVILLE, NY (WNY News Now) – A Chautauqua County Sheriff K-9 and his partner were commended this week for their efforts safely locating a missing girl.

Jamestown legislator Billy Torres delivered the commendation during this week’s legislature meeting in Mayville to K-9 Link and Deputy Chad Wright.

On Wednesday, August 17, a six-year-old girl was reported missing from her home near Findley Lake.

Following an hours long search, the deputy and K-9 located the girl about a half-mile away.

“This is just a representation of the people involved, if you pulled up to that scene, you would have seen people all over the place,” explained Sheriff Jim Quattorne. “While Deputy Wright and K-9 Link were the ones who located he girl, it was really a team effort.”

Sheriff Quattrone went on to thank all those involved, including the area search teams, firefighters, County EMS crews and New York State Forest Rangers.
