FINDLEY LAKE, NY (WNY News Now) – A multiple hours long search for a missing girl in Chautauqua County ended, after she was located a half mile away from home by first responders.

Chautauqua County Sheriff Jim Quattrone told WNY News Now that calls came in around 7:50 Wednesday night outside a residence, 10185 Route 430, near Findley Lake in the Town of Mina.

Just before 9:30 p.m, after around one hour of searching, K9 Link located an odor trail and began tracking into a wooded area.

The 6-year old was located by first responders, stuck in a thick area of brush a half mile from the residence. The 6-year-old was uninjured and returned to her family.

The Sheriff’s Office, alongside several area fire departments, police K-9 units and New York State Forest Rangers responded to assist in the search.
