Halloween Hours Set In Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – Halloween is less than a month away, and lawmakers in the City of Jamestown have finalized times for trick-or-treaters. 

Traditionally the time frame for Halloween within city limits ranges from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., this year the public safety committee had considered different hours for the spooky night.











Some on the council and Jamestown Police Chief Tim Jackson recommended earlier trick-or-treat times for 5 p.m. through 7 p.m.

When brought to the full city council a midway point was discussed for 5:30 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. While some of the council agreed with the plan, others saw flaws in an earlier start time.   

“What I brought up was not the matter of turning your light on,“ explained councilman Jeffery Russell. “Being a working parent, getting home at 5 o’clock…”









“Getting your kids in costumes…” said councilwoman Marie Carrubba.

“Getting your kid out the door…” stated councilwoman Kim Eckland.

“…and getting your kid in their costume, and getting ready, and getting out there,” explained councilman Russell. “I would like to see it stay six to eight.”

Ultimately the council decided to keep the hours from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
