WASHINGTON, D.C. (WENY) — Bissell is the latest company to be hit by a recall with over 61,000 vacuum cleaners impacted due to overheating and smoking issues. There have been dozens of reports including three instances that caused property damage and one that burned someone.

The recall involves Bissell Cordless Multi-Surface Wet Dry Vacuum models 2551, 2551W and 25519. “BISSELL” is printed on the foot of the product and the model numbers are visible when the clean water tank is removed.

Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the recalled vacuums and contact Bissell for a free battery pack replacement. Consumers can also either take the product to a local authorized service center for a free battery pack replacement or schedule a free in-home repair visit.
