JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – The Dow Street substation is blamed for another citywide power outage in Jamestown.

Around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday the lights went dark for all of the BPU territory, with some experiencing only a few minutes long outage and others reporting longer restoration times.

“While troubleshooting last week’s system outage, another problem at the Dow St. Substation happened, causing a brief but similar outage today,” said the Board of Public Utilities in a post on social media. “Electricity now is restored.  Water customers may see discolored water for 12-24 hrs. as the power to water pumps was cut during the short outage.”

Last Thursday morning, circuits tripping at the Dow Street Substation caused a widespread electric outage that lasted around a half-hour.
