JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A fundraiser to help memorialize a local teenager killed in a hit and run crash over a year ago will be held this weekend.
Spearheaded by community member Missy Paterniti, fundraising has raised thousands of dollars to fund a permanent memorial for the late teen.
Currently, Paterniti is planning on purchasing a bench and picnic table that will be placed in Dow Park in Jamestown, on the corner of 6th and Washington Streets, just feet away from the crash scene.
To help raise more money, Paterniti is going to hold a lunch benefit this weekend, selling hotdogs, chips, and a drink for $5 dollars, along with other ways to raise funds.
“We’re gonna have tons of baskets,“ explained Paterniti. “We’re gonna have food. We’re gonna have a little can drive for my little guy, Jackson. If you bring a canned good, we’re gonna let you get put in a special drawing, we’re going to do some 50-50’s. It’s going to be 12 pm. to 6 pm. Saturday the 28th.”
The fundraiser will be held this Saturday at the Lakewood Lake Lodge at 185 E Terrace Ave in Lakewood from 12 pm to 6 pm.
