Wrong Way Driver Killed In I-86 Crash

ALMOND, NY (WNY News Now) – A wrong-way driver was killed during a Wednesday night crash on Interstate-86.

New York State Police say the accident happened Wednesday just before 9:45 p.m. in the I-86 west bound lane in the Town of Almond, Allegany County.

An investigation determined that a 2017 Dodge Ram, operated by Donald Rose of Angelica, NY was traveling east bound in the west bound lane on I-86.











The 62-year-old’s truck struck a 2021 Ford tractor trailer traveling west bound, head on.

Rose was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The operator of the Ford was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight for injuries.

Police say this is still an ongoing investigation. NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted at the scene.
