MAYVILLE, NY (WNY News Now) – A man convicted of burglarizing a Chautauqua County home was sentenced to a state prison term on Wednesday.
The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office announced Matthew Kennedy was sentenced to an indeterminate state prison term of 2 and 1/3 years to 7 years after he was convicted of second-degree burglary, a class D felony.
The 31-year-old Angola resident was arrested by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office in May 2022 as deputies responded to a unwanted and disorderly person call on Ball Hill Road.
Law enforcement accused Kennedy of entering the home by breaking in a door and started damaging windows, cabinets and other household items once inside.
Kennedy also allegedly attacked both the homeowner’s by kicking and pushing them to the floor.
During court proceedings last winter, Kennedy took a plea to the lesser burglary charge.
