ALBANY, NY (WENY) — Tuesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul signs a legislative package intending to expand access to reproductive healthcare.

The package includes two bills. One to expand access to hormonal contraception by making it available over the county at pharmacies. And another to provide access to medication abortion on SUNY and CUNY campuses.

“We can’t let the extremists on the other side know that we’re stopping. We must meet this moment with tenacity and the leadership that’s required,” Gov. Hochul said.

The Governor also recently announced $1.68 million in grants through the state’s securing reproductive health centers program, which helps ensure access to reproductive health and abortion services statewide.

This funding is part of the Governor’s commitment last year of $35 million for reproductive healthcare providers.
