FREWSBURG, NY (WNY News Now) – The Town of Carroll Historical Society is holding an open house this weekend, giving local history its chance to shine.
The historical society spends the winter months preparing and updating their exhibits to bring a fresh perspective to local history.
The open house will invite members of the public to the historical institution to partake in local history. Guests will see loads of artifacts, documents, and records of times well past.
Organizers are also holding a basket raffle to help raise donations.
Harold Bennett, President of the Historical Society, says that these donations are needed to keep the historical society alive.
“We rely on donations to survive here, and it’s a lot of cost in that to run a museum like this,“ explained Bennett. “You need special boxes, special papers, special things to store the artifacts. We just recently put up new shelving and that for storing artifacts. It’s quite a job to keep everything organized here.”
The open house will take place on Saturday May 6, from noon until 4 p.m. all are welcome to attend.
